Wednesday Club 888 @ Marco Polo Eagle's Bar

Earlier this morning George Tujan, Murlwe Pidor and I were invited to talk at Club 888. It's the première forum for press people to interface to chat with local people of interest and find out what they are upto. Amoung the guest were Former justice ..., Former Council for the 3rd district Delica, Councilor Tessie Maranon, Dr. Palayab, and Ms. Hannah Cano of (Pinoytakeout.com).

I was surprised that the main topic of the day was  the controversial Reproductive bill 5043- introduced by Edcel C.Lagman et al. More information about the bill and how it affects all of us here. Session was very interesting for me personally. It brought me back to my college days a decade ago when I introduced the ProLife Movement to the Marian Core Group. The things I learned during those times were shocking to say the least. And now here we are again .. dealing with the same issue .. but now, the age old question ... when does life begin...is still being asked. I though that this was clear... it begins in conception .. when the sperm cell fuses with the genetic material of the ovum or the female egg. Now I heard they are changing the rules or nature.. redefining it.

I am told and it seems obvious that there are stronger powers involved in this. I believe that inorder for us to beat this ..we have to accentuate the positive. Celebrate life. Let's talking about making sure each and every business establishment has a place where you can change the babies diapers and breast feed comfortably. Let's have jeepney stops sheltered from the rain and the hot sun. Let's have public transportation which makes it easier and safer for kids and the senior citizens.

Why do we have to buy all these condoms, birth control pills ..etc. There are other ways to control. Making a law that will punish practitioners and people in authority for not promoting artificial Birthcontrol goes against the grain of common sense. It's high time our people get their heads out of their asses and smell the stench of the "Diglo" as defined is ass burp .. cos dighi is mouth burp. Besides all these contraceptive devices are made abroad .. well most of them anyway. This will not promote our local industry.
-------------------------------------

After some passionate exchanges about th Reproductive Health Bill ... it was my turn to talk about DabaweGNU -- opensource software advocacy through training and our latest forey -- IdeaCampDavao. All those things by the way were my personal thoughs about the Reproductive Health Bill. I told them that IdeaCampDavao was a venue for people who were passionate about what they do... and for them to share this passion through a 5 -10 minute presentation. This was a free event that's meant to be a catalyst for positive change through sharing... sharing ideas, contacts and network. We don't charge for this -- but we definitely welcome donations to the cause.

Donating to a Worthy Cause

It's curious because when we started off, we did not have a single centavo to spare for this event. For example the First IdeacampDavao last May 30 was held at Cafe Kublai, Ponce Suites. This was an unconference venue, Unconventional approach to typical problem. This was made possible through .. synchonicity and God providence.. key people with key resources

Hi Ruz,

Been some time since we heard from you. Our next event will be the OpenStreet Mapping Party this July 4.

The mapping party is just a way for us get together with some friends and go around town noting points of interest like tourist spots gas stations , etc and we publish them here. That way we can use these free maps to promote Davao as place for business and leisure.
